
Memorial services for Leon Woosley Harris, 85, of Huntsville are scheduled 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Elkins Lake Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Hugghins officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2011 in Rose Hill Cemetery, Tyler under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Mr. Harris passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2011 in Greenville.
He was born on June 5, 1926 in Texarkana, Arkansas to the late Karl Vaughn and Jeffie Roberta Woosley Harris. He married Iris Jane Shettlesworth on May 9, 1948 in Venice, Louisiana. He served in the U. S. Navy during WW II. He was a civil engineer and was employed by Getty Oil Company which became Tidewater Oil, then Texaco and when he retired it was Chevron. He was a member of Elkins Lake Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, J. Paul Harris and son-in-law, Jeff Riley.
He is survived by his wife, Iris Jane Harris of Greenville, son and daughter-in-law John David and Wendy Harris of Montgomery, son, Karl Vaughn Harris of Dallas, daughter and son-in-law, Becky and John David Wright of Greenville; daughter, Suzanne Riley of Virginia; son, Dan and Betsy Harris of Houston; sister, Suzanne Ray of Tyler and grandchildren, Danny Ray and Clayton Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Robert Harris, Stephanie Harris, Emily Ann Riley, Paul Harris and John Riley and great grandchildren, John David Harris, Duncan Woosley Harris, Corbin Harris, Abigale and Jonah Harris.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Harris, Clayton Harris, Robert Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Paul Harris and John D. Riley.
