

Services for Leonard Frank Guthrie Jr., 77, of Houston formerly of Tyler will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Lloyd James Funeral chapel with Jacob Wamboldt officiating. Burial is in Cathedral in the Pines.
Mr. Guthrie passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2012 in Houston. He was born on May 27, 1934 in Boise, Idaho to the late Leonard Frank Sr. and Arthurena Ellen Mower Guthrie. He married Joyce Marie Archer on November 12, 1954 in Coeur d’ Alene Idaho and later married Arla Morgan on September 20, 1962 in Beaumont. He was the owner of Arlen Pro Built Homes, L&L Building Supply, Nuway Building Systems and Guthrie Custom Buildings. He was a licensed pilot who flew all over North America, sponsored the Vietnamese refugee family of Nho Nguyen from Camp Pendleton in 1975 and brought them to Tyler where he aided them in getting a new start in life in the United States. He was an avid outdoors man with a special love for fishing and hunting. He had a great love for his faith and spoke openly to anyone who would listen about those things he felt in his heart. His influence was the catalyst that brought many others to come to know Christ personally. He was a leader in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints with a specific responsibility over missionary work.
He was preceded in death by his brother Frank Dumont, sister Marie Larson, brother Ted Dumont, brother Pat Dumont, sister Ellen Patricia Adams, sister Geraldine Attardi and brother Charles Robert Guthrie.
