On Tuesday, July 8, Mark Elwyn Hoyt departed this life to enter his eternal rest. He was a beloved husband, son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, teacher and witness to many of the eternal peace that is found in Jesus Christ. Mark began life on May 16, 1958 in Elkhart, Indiana, the seventh of eight children born to Clarence Lowell and Lola Goehring Hoyt.
Ever the scholar and book lover, Mark graduated first in his class at Hartville Christian High School in Hartville, Ohio, in 1976, and also first in his class at the University of Tulsa in 1983. He taught at Westminster Christian Academy in Opelousas, Louisiana, from 1983 to 1997 and at Good Shepherd School in Tyler, Texas, from 1997 to 2025.

He is also survived by siblings, Bruce Hoyt of Christchurch, New Zealand, Stan Hoyt of Forsythe, Georgia, Loren Hoyt of Ackley, Iowa, Nelda Banek of Tyler, Texas, and Sherwood Hoyt of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, and numerous nieces and nephews.
