

Graveside services for Marvin L. Thompson, 82, of Tyler are scheduled for 3:30pm, Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Tyler Memorial Park with Rev. Sherman Mayfield officiating. Visitation will be from 2-3pm, Saturday at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Mr. Thompson passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 in Tyler.
He was born on December 23, 1933 in Breckenridge to the late Robert H. and Winona Faye Larue Thompson. He graduated from Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Arts degree and served in the U. S. Army from 1954 to 1956. In 1971 he moved to Tyler to open the Ford Motor Credit office. He was a life member of VFW and was especially proud to have been a member of the Breckenridge High School state championship football team.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Eloise Huffman Thompson; brothers, Robert Lynn and Nathan Earl Thompson.
He is survived by Sammie Saulsbury; his sons, Steve Thompson of Emory and Rex Thompson and wife Julie of Tyler; daughter Anne Bickle and husband David of Irvine, California; grandchildren, Jake Thompson, Allison Thompson, Emily Thompson, Brandon Bickle, John Thompson, Graham Thompson and Annie Thompson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas, 75701.
