Mary Ella Moore was born on December, 8, 1941 to Tyler pioneer rose grower Pierce C. Moore and his wife Eliza Beth. She passed away December, 9, 2021. Mary Ella graduated from Tyler high school in 1959 before attending TCU for one year and then graduating from LSU with a degree in landscape design. Mary Ella received a master degree in landscape design from the University of California Berkeley. Following this she worked at Simon and Simon Landscape Design in Pittsburg PA. Mary Ella then worked for the U.S. corps of engineering in Mobil Alabama with the responsibility of designing parks and recreation areas throughout Alabama. She worked for several landscape design firms in the Southeast before returning to Tyler where she worked for Smith County Literacy Council until her retirement.
She is survived by her brother, Pierce C. Moore Jr. and wife Vivian, and her sister Martha Adams and husband Don as well as several nieces and nephews.
