

Mike “Mikie” Tate, age 32, of Garland, formerly of Tyler, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2013 in Dallas. He was born on May 30, 1981 in Tyler to Primitivo Alvarez and Patsy Tate; they survive. Mike was a fun loving guy who could always make you laugh or brighten up a day with his sweet smile. He attended Seminary in Dallas and was a member of the Diocese of Dallas. Mike was a strong believer in his faith and Lord. He was always a person you could turn to for answers or just someone to talk to when life’s answers weren’t always easy. Mikie’s good attitude and big heart will be missed by all who knew him.
Mike is survived by his parents, Primitivo Alvarez and Patsy Tate-Negrete; siblings, Debra Estrada, Eric Negrete, Patricia Izaguirre, and Mark Negrete; and by a host of uncles, aunts, and other relatives and very special friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marcidonio Alvarez, Sabina Barron, Robert Tate, and Imagene Tate.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 13, 2013 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Gun Barrel City. Burial will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Williams Cemetery in Chapel Hill with Arturo Alvarez, Juan Alvarez, Emilio Estrada, Edgar Izaguirre, Eric Negrete, Bobby Tate, and Daniel Tate serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 P.M., Friday evening at the funeral home with a rosary service at 7:00 P.M.
