

Elvis was born in Troup on May 7, 1933, to Ruth and Robert Kersh. He attended Troup High School and served in the U.S. Navy.
Elvis was owner of Bell Sand Company Inc. and enjoyed cattle ranching. Elvis was also a proud member of First Baptist Church of Owentown and a past master of Starr Lodge 118 in Winona.
Elvis is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Pope Kersh, of Tyler; two wonderful sons, Elvis Kersh Jr. and Evan Kersh, both of Tyler; one daughter, Debbie Kersh Welch, of Whitehouse; two grandsons, Bobby Welch and Trever Welch, of Jacksonville; one loving sister, Francis and Dalton Monday, of Lake Fork; three nieces, Pamela Daily, of Denton, Connie Souza, of California, and Karolyn Taylor, of Jacksonville; three nephews, Skip Kirby, of Belton, Kevin Kirby, of Washington state, and Keneth Kirby, of Rhode Island.
He was predeceased by half brothers, Leo, Pete, Lloyd and Gordon, all of Troup, two half sisters, Ruby Whiteside and Maybell Layne.
Funeral services will be held at Lloyd James Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, April 10, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. George Folmar and Bro. Jamie Eitson officiating. Masonic graveside services will be in Pine Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Sumrall, Toby Sumrall, Scotty Pope, Stephen Pope, Mathew Pope, John Pope, Rickey Garza, and Major Martin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Tidwell, Alan Adams, Rickey Pope, Ron Blackstock, Sam Sumrall, Waylon Williams, Lloyd Long, Bo Steding, Clarence Beaty, James Stovall, Dr. Mike Williams, Steve Small, Dr. Curt Hampton, Richard Sloan, Robert Cagle, John Danaher, Bryum Underwood, Charles Wilson, Mitch Shamburger, Rex Coulter, Joe Taylor, Randy Kersh, Glen Horn, Lynn Kersh and Bing Taylor.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015, in the chapel at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
