

Robert Arnold "Uncle Bob" Sprague, age 82 passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025 in Tyler, Texas. He was born on October 11, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Robert Arnold Sprague and Marjorie Catherine Crews Sprague. He was raised in Hoopeston, Illinois. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp in October 1959. While in the service he served as Military Police while on the USS Ranger and USS Hancock, he was a member of the Honor Guard and security of Nuclear weapons security. Also while serving on those ships he was a jet engine mechanic. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant E-5 on Aug. 15, 1967. He served two terms in Viet nam. He was also a rifleman serving as a Proof Tech. Asst. He received the good conduct medals and Honorable discharge along with the National Defense Medal.
After his service he attended Harper College Police Academy, and had been a police officer during his life in Chicago, Ill., Phoenix, Az. and Tyler, Texas. Member of The Teamsters Union, was a car hauler and truck driver.
He loved his time on the Mountain in Show low, Arizona, and loved watching good westerns, good food and spirits. Loved shooting his guns and driving his motorcycle to Texas to visit family and friends. He loved to dance and dearly loved all of his animals, Lucy, Sarah, Tippy and Smokey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by nephew, Bradley Wade Hunt. Survivors are a son, Robert Jeffrey Sprague of Phoenix and (his children); daughter, Hannah Elizabeth Sprague of Amsterdam ( Europe); Sister, Luella Frances Hunt of Tyler and one niece, Amy Catherine Hunt of Tyler. Many family and friends referred to him as Uncle Bob. His good friends Johnny Rippy and his family and Don Weir were very supportive and were there for him during his time of need throughout his illness. He spent his final days with and under the care of his niece, Amy Catherine Hunt in Tyler.
Bobby was a proud American and Patriot of the USA and a member of the V.F.W. There will be a Private Memorial Service to celebrate his life on the Mountain in Show Low, Arizona, where he will be laid to rest.
