

Until recently she was a resident of the Villas of Sunnyside where she played “Chicken foot” on a daily basis. She was often recognized as the elderly lady in the commercial for Meals on Wheels. Ruby was a patron of the Nutrition Center and enjoyed her many friends there. She was a member of the volunteers for Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth; throughout her years as a volunteer she crocheted over six hundred baby hats. Ruby was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America for over fifty- years.
Survivors include her son, Tommy Carlson and his wife Wadine; daughter-in-law, Julie Carlson; grandchildren, Richard Carlson and his wife, Annette Carlson, Roger Carlson and his wife, Rachel, Daphne Bremer and her husband, Andrew, Denege French and Samantha Carlson.
She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Roger Carlson; and her son, Neill Carlson.
A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Christian Vigil at 6:00 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2011, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 423 South Broadway Avenue, Tyler with burial to follow at Tyler Memorial Park under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home, 1011 East First Street, Tyler.
The family would like to thank Reverend John Hughes for his prayers and service; and also Jeannine Chapman for the love and compassion shown during her last illness.
