

Shirley Lee Vickery Phillips, 86, of Tyler, passed away on November 17, 2022, peacefully in her home surrounded by family after a lengthy illness. Shirley was born in Mixon, TX on January 30, 1936, the second of five children, to parents Jesse and Irene Vickery. She is preceded in death by husband of 59 years, Harold Phillips Sr., her parents, her sister Joyce Glenn Vickery, brother Kenneth Vickery, daughter-in-law, Dahlene Phillips, sister in-law Cloetis Vickery, grandson, Randy Strickland. Continuing her legacy of family are brothers, Thomas Vickery, William and Betty Vickery, daughter, Shirley Ann and Robert Greenlee, son Anthony Phillips, Janice & Mark Smith, and Harold Phillips, Jr. Shirley, known as Mammie, leaves behind her grandchildren, Carrie McCoy, Amanda Blundell, Seth Phillips, Wesley Smith, ten great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren and her beloved pet cat, Miss Kitty.
She graduated from Chapel Hill High School and continued to Cosmetology school in the late 60's. She opened her own successful beauty shop and then continued her entrepreneurial spirit as a florist in the mid-80's. She opened Country Florist and Gifts where she served the greater Tyler area for over 30 years.
Shirley faithfully attended and served at Central Baptist Church until her health prohibited her from attending. She loved her Savior, Jesus Christ and was a faithful prayer warrior. She was an avid traveler. She and her husband loved taking their children and grandchildren on trips. She loved deeply and would do anything for her family and friends. She was iconic with her style and beautiful beyond words. She will be missed tremendously but will be seen in each of her children and grandchildren and live forever in our hearts and minds until we see her again in glory.
A service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2022 in the chapel of Lloyd James Funeral Home with Rev. Kim Beckham and Rev. Bill Vickery officiating. The family will receive friends on hour prior to service in the chapel. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
