Suzanne Holmes

Funeral services for Suzanne Holmes, 71, of Tyler, will be 1:00 P.M. Sunday, July 12, 2015, at Lloyd James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sherman Mayfield officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery No. 1 in Rains County under direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.

Suzanne passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015, in Tyler after a lengthy illness.

She was born on June 17, 1944, in Greenville to the late Durwood and Gladys Pounds Ivie.

Suzanne graduated valedictorian of Rains High School and obtained a bachelor’s degree in education from East Texas State University and master’s degree from the University of Texas Tyler. She worked as a diagnostician for more than 20 years. Suzanne was a member of the Emory Baptist Church where she was an accomplished musician and the church organist. She was also a real estate agent in Tyler for several years.

She is survived by her husband, Tracy Holmes, of Tyler; daughters, Robin Strait and husband Paul, of Tyler, and Courtney Taylor and husband Craig, of Whitehouse; brother, Harmon Ivie, of Granbury; and five grandchildren, Lyndsey and Jared Strait, Brendon, Michael and Gabriel Taylor.

Pallbearers will be Brendon Taylor, Craig Taylor, Miles Croson, and Paul Strait.

The family will receive friends from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
