

Teresa Cruz Carvajal, age 84, of Dallas passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Mesquite Specialty Hospital in Mesquite, peacefully and surrounded by her family. She was born in Dallas to Jesus and Maria Madrigal Cruz. Teresa attended St. Ann's Catholic School and Crozier Tech in Dallas. She later worked as a pharmacist assistant and bookkeeper. Teresa was a 20-year member of the Guadalupanas. She loved God, her family, her country, her "hillbilly" music, and her Cowboys, Cubbies, Rangers, Yankees and Longhorns!
Teresa is survived by her children, Maria Mata, Clara McBroom and husband Bob, Tony Carvajal and wife Mariluz, Joe Carvajal and wife Vicki, Teresa Ann Carvajal, Felipe Carvajal, Guadalupe Carvajal and Steve Carvajal; brother, Andres Cruz and wife Belen; grandchildren, Michelle Simmons, Frieschelsea Baptiste, Marisol Millan, Michael Carvajal, Clarissa Carvajal and Jackie Mendez; and by seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Joe V. Carvajal; one sister, Socorro Lara Martinez; and two brothers, Joe Cruz and Salome Cruz.
Mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Tyler. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at Lloyd James Funeral home on Friday Jan. 25, at 6:30 p.m. Formal visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
