Born at home in Bascom to Cleo F. Clark and Callie Catherine Wright Clark on Tuesday, September 10, 1929, Tom was a fifth generation descendent of Smith County pioneers Reuben and Amanda Fugate Clark and Richard and Mary Wright.
He graduated from Tyler High School in 1946 and attended Tyler Jr. College and Texas A&M University. Tom served as Production Manager at Smith Tank and Equipment Company for 40 years. Most important to Tom were his family and their activities. Whether it was a ballet or piano recital, baseball, volleyball, or soccer, he was there to cheer everyone on! He also had a very special interest in little league and pony league baseball. Whether he was coaching or umpiring baseball games, he was a great leader and mentor for many!
Tom passed from his earthly life on Saturday, December 13, 2014 to join those who preceded him in death which include his son Thomas Clark Jr., granddaughter Cynthia Renee Bass, and brother Jerry Mike Clark.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sarah Nell Palmer Clark, daughters: Gayle Thompson (Bill) and Kay Fielding (Charles); grandchildren: Michael David Bass, Callie Crede' Owens (Cory), and Chrisi Wester Mitchell (Cody); great-grandchildren: Hunter Pipak, Gracie and Zoe Owens; and brother Joe Bob Clark.
Pallbearers are: Michael Bass, Cory Owens, Cody Mitchell, and former baseball players Joe Weaver, Dale Acker and John Hartfield.
