

Thomas Eugene Hindman was born October 24, 1929 to Leona Pratt Hindman and Thomas Elton (Bud) Hindman in Winfield, Kansas. He attended Haven grade & high schools, and graduated Haven High 1948. He attended Hutchinson Junior Collage 2 years and graduated Kansas State University in 1952 with degree in geology.
While a senior in high school he enlisted in the Naval Reserve. After graduation from KSU he was commissioned Ensign and went on active duty for 2 years during Korean War. Tom married Betty Lou Cummings November 2, 1952. After navy duty he went back to KSU for a degree in engineering.
In 1957 he went to work for Chevron for a career that lasted 33 years. He worked in various engineering and management positions, which took his family to Taft, CA, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Brussels, Belgium (8yr), and London, England (12yr). The family moved from London to Emerald Bay in 1991.
While working for Chevron Tom stayed active in the Naval Reserve and was Commanding Officer of medium size surface division, Vallejo, CA and large surface division in Los Angeles. Tom was placed on the inactive list as Commander after 22 years of Federal service.
Tom's hobbies were flying, golf, boating, hunting & volunteer work. He started the KSU flying club at Kansas State & Chevron flying club in Taft. He was on the board of directors and president of Emerald Bay Club & HOA, also member MGA.
Tom & Betty volunteered at the Noonday Pantry & East Texas Food Bank.
Tom & Betty have 4 sons, 3 daughter-in-law’s, 11 grandchildren, and GG children. Thomas, [Hunter, (GG’s August Gray, Axel Reid, Millie], Emily & Matt), David & Carrie (Dale, DT, Darlene), Robert & Birgit (Andreas, Jackob, Markus), Timothy & Jackie (Samuel & Olivia Lou). Tom is also survived by his brother John Hindman and wife Patty of Hutchinson, Kansas.
Tom is preceded in death by his Father; Mother; older brother Donald & younger sister Leona.
Memorial service will be held on Monday August 14, 2017 at 1 P.M. at Emerald Bay Community Church 160 Lasalle Rd. Bullard, Texas 75757.
