Thomas Wayne McEntire of Tyler, Texas, passed away on January 19, 2023, at the age of 59 after an extended illness. He was born on April 16, 1963, in Dallas, Texas, but spent most of his childhood and adult life in Southwest Louisiana before moving to Tyler, Texas, in 2019.
He graduated from Westlake High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree of Theology at Louisiana College (Class of 1985). He also earned Master's degrees at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (Class of 1988) and Southwestern Theological Seminary (Class of 1997). Finally, he earned his PHD at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Class of 2003).
Wayne was a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ and desired to serve Him with his life by preaching and teaching the Word of God. He spent his career serving God’s people in both Christian Education and Pastoral Ministry. Most notably he pastored First Baptist Church of Westlake which was the same church he attended as a youth. He was the headmaster at both Hamilton Christian Academy in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Kings Academy Christian School in Tyler,Texas. Wayne was a gracious man with a servant’s heart, and he was most known for his integrity, humility, and love for Jesus Christ.
Wayne enjoyed reading, spending time with his family on trips, watching his favorite sport teams, and drinking Dr. Pepper.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents Virginia and William T. “Bill” McEntire and is survived by his wife Kyla and his children: Kannon, Kali (Tyler), Corbin (Ruston LA), Kaci (Benicia CA), and Caleb (Shreveport LA); and his sister Linda (Sulphur LA).
The family would like to thank Kings Academy Christian School, Green Acres Baptist Church, extended friends, and neighbors for all of their love and support in the final days of Wayne’s life.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life at the Chapel at Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas, On January 23 at 2:00 PM. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 PM.
