

Mrs. Moira Birkholz was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Moira will be remembered as an outstanding individual.
She was the daughter of Francis Joseph and Jessie Mac Namee. Moira grew up in Glasgow, Scotland and in the Bronx, New York.
Moira helped to raise her two siblings. She had two younger brothers, Anthony and John. Moira was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
On June 29,1943 Moira exchanged wedding vows with Hughie Henry Birkholz at the City Clerks Office in Manhattan. Empathic and loyal, Moira was committed to making her new family happy.
Moira worked hard to be a good mother to her son and she did her best to fulfill his needs. Moira was blessed with one child, Hugh John Birkholz. Another blessing for Moira was the gift of two grandchildren, Lauralie and Staci.
Fortunately, Moira enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Moira worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was telephone operator. She was employed for about 30 years by the New York Telephone Company. Moira always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Moira enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were reading mysteries, doing crossword puzzles and playing cards. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.
Moira enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for her to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included Hawaii, Spain, and the Midwest.
Moira passed away on January 16, 2008 at Fritz Reuter Lifecare in North Bergen, New Jersey. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Dolores; her grand children Lauralie and Staci; her brothers Anthony and John; her great grandson Lawrence; many nieces and a nephew. Services were held at St. Joseph of the Palisades, West New York, New Jersey. Moira was laid to rest in Weehawken Cemetary in North Bergen, New Jersey.
Simply stated, Moira was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Moira leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Mrs. Moira Birkholz.
