

Bert was born on June 7, 1946 in Naples, Texas. She grew up in Blue Ridge, Texas, where she helped work the family farm.
Her initial entry into the field of dentistry was as a dental hygienist. She graduated from Grayson County Community College, Texas Woman’s University, and Baylor University School of Dentistry. She entered the US Air Force in 1979 upon graduation from Baylor. She completed several general dentistry residencies and served as a General Dentist in the Dental Corps until 2003, when she retired from the Air Force in the grade of Lieutenant Colonel. Upon retirement she volunteered as a dental instructor at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio School of Dentistry until 2014 as a part of the Dental Anatomy Faculty.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Burt and Blanche Hedrich.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Charles, her two sons, Scott and Jason and his wife Ricarda, and her two grandchildren Charles and Pacifica. She is survived by her sister, Nelda Jean Maxwell and her husband Travis, as well as her aunt, Lena Milstead and her husband Earl.
A visitation for Bert will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 5:00 - 8:00pm at the Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 11:30am - 12:30pm, at the Colonial Funeral Home. A committal service will occur immediately following the service from 1:00pm to 1:30pm at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, TX.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bert's memory may be made to the Homes for the Homeless, Universal City Animal Care and Control Center.
