At age 19, he joined the United States Air Force in 1954, where he served his country as an aircraft mechanic, a flight attendant, and an electronics specialist. It was in the military that he met his wife, Earline, traveled to more than 30 countries, and earned an Air Medal for his bravery making several trips to and from Vietnam. After retiring from the Air Force in 1974, he then worked for the Civil Service under the Department of Defense until 2000.
One of Blaine’s biggest passions in life was golf. He learned to love the game as a caddy at age 9, a job he held until he joined the military. He continued to play throughout much of his life. Some of his significant achievements include hitting a remarkable seven holes-in-one, winning countless tournaments, and playing with notable figures such as Bob Hope, Arnold Palmer, and several high ranking military generals.
Blaine passed away peacefully in his home in Live Oak, Texas, surrounded by his family, on April 22, 2022 at 7:06 p.m. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Earline Paul, his children, Dawn Robinson and Blaine Paul, his seven grandchildren, as well as one great-granddaughter. He will always be fondly remembered for his boisterous singing and dancing, his love of reading the dictionary, and his warm, welcoming lap, where his children and grandchildren made so many memories.
Services will be held at Live Oak First Baptist Church on Saturday April 30, 2022 at 11:00am. A reception will follow at the church.
