Sorry  we did not get to attend the funeral services for Chief Back. We worked togeather in Hqs ATC in the late 70s. Also knew the family thru bowling at Randolph. I was informed this morning 29 Dec by Gordon Prichard of Charlies death. Thought lots of him a dear friend.

I first met Charlie at Webb AFB, where he lived up the street from me. We also bowled together. Chief Charlie also personally picked me to work the T46/F109 program. Charlie was both a dear friend, but also a mentor. Charlie was already an expert on logistics before most of us had even heard of it, so we all learned a tremendous amount from him. After the Air Force, we continued working together for another 20 years at Garrett/Allied Signal/Honeywell. Donna and I send our condolences to Joyce and the entire family. Rest in peace my friend, I will miss you.

I first met Charlie when I was on the ATC/IG team and was impressed with his ability to communicate and tell stories or jokes at the drop of a hat.  Later I had the privilege of serving with him on the T-46
acquisition team. I learned a lot from Charlie and will miss him as a friend and brother in arms.......hope you're in a better place and I know the family will miss you dearly.

Charlie was my brother and friend since the late 70's during the closure of Webb AFB.  We have been together since that time either traveling,bowling, promotion to CHIEF, retiring from the AF, moving out west (CA/AZ), Contractors and retiring again.  I will miss Charlie very much.

I worked with Charlie on many programs together at AlliedSignal. You will be missed by your family and friends. My thoughts and prayers goes out to you and your family.

I had the pleasure of serving with Charlie (Chief Back) at Randolph, he was always a good supporter and a very fine NCO I will definitgely be at the services at Colonial and graveside.  My deepest condolences to the family. Chief (Ret) Emilio Serrano

=?=  I first met Charlie when he served as an Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) specialist supporting aircraft flying training operations.  While assigned to HQ ATC/LGM Charlie was the recipient of the Honorable Dudley C. Sharp Award for deployment of the innovative T-38 Centralized Aircraft Support System (CASS) saving the Air Force millions of dollars in AGE and ground fuels.  In his final military assignment, Chief Charlie was our superintendent of acquisition logistics for the T-46A Next Generation Trainer, HQ ATC/LGXY.  Charlie was a practical and wise leader.  ? Godspeed ?

Thank you, Dad, for all your wisdom and advice you passed along to me.  You treated me as one of your own kids and I will be forever thankful for that.  You are truly missed and life seems a bit dimmer without you here. We will meet again, Dad.  Semper Fi!

I am a long time friend of Wendy's and just wanted to extend my sympathy to the family during your time of grief. Wendy has spoken often about her father and what a great man he was along with just how much of a family man he was.
