A proud veteran of the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1980. After retirement, he worked in civil service. Finally retiring as the lodging manager at Brooks Air Force Base. He was very patriotic and proud of his service.
He was an avid lover of gardening, especially orchids, and bonsai trees. His love of fish began with his goldfish, Fat Boy, and grew from there. He enjoyed model cars, trains, and sailboats.
He liked charitable causes and supported a variety of charities. He enjoyed being able to give to those in need.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Rosa O. Brough, brother, Douglas Merchant, sister, Linda Merchant and his mother and father.
He is survived by his children, Debora Sittenauer (Husband Charles), Susan Brough (Melissa), and Diego Brough; grandchildren, Brian, Anthony, Jackie, Katie, Charles, James and Brooklyn; and great grandchildren, Liam, Nori-Ann, Ashtyn, Dexter, Declan, Emerson, Hadley, Archer, Aria, Isabella and Ian.
