SMSgt. Claude B. Howell, Jr. U.S. Air Force (Retired) passed away on January 20, 2013 at the age of 81. He was born on December 17, 1931 in Van, Texas to Claude and Nina “Grant” Howell. Claude was preceded in death by his parents; survived by his loving wife, Cecile Howell of San Antonio, formerly of Deridder, La; son, Claude E. Howell of Troutdale, Or; daughter, Colleen Howell of San Antonio, Tx; granddaughters, Brenna C. Howell, Tamera C. Lees, Darcy C. Howell and Demple M. Hart; and 5 great-grandchildren and a brother, Jack Howell. Claude was a 3 year undergrad, spent 2 years in the U.S. Army in Fairbanks, Ak, 26 years in the U.S. Air Force, served a tour in Vietnam, and various areas overseas and in the United States. He also spent 10 years in the Civil Service. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. and the funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2012 at 9:30 A.M. at Sunset Funeral Home on Austin Hwy. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. with full military honors.
