David was born in Colorado Springs on May 8, 1973 and lived most of his childhood in South Texas. He graduated from Samuel Clemens High School in 1991 and then attended Texas A&M University, graduating in 1996 with Bachelor of Science in Horticulture. He moved to St. Croix, USVI to work as a horticulturist at St. George Village Botanical Garden specializing in tropical plants. He became the Garden’s Executive Director with an emphasis on community education, outreach and preservation. David returned to Texas in August 2015 as the Family and Adult Programs Specialist at the San Antonio Botanical Garden.
David is survived by parents Ronald and Martha Hamada of San Antonio, brother Ron “Koto” and his wife Lekha, and their daughters Anjali and Diya. He will be missed by family and friends from around the world.
In lieu of flowers, the best way to honor David would be to take the time to visit the San Antonio Botanical Garden, your own local garden or conservatory. We hope you will take a moment to enjoy the beautiful relationship between you and the plants and flowers around you. If you wish to make a contribution, please contact the San Antonio Botanical Garden at www.sabot.org/support or support a garden near you.
At David’s request, his remains will be cremated and returned to nature over the ocean at a later date.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a rosary and memorial service that will be held 1:00pm-5:00pm on Saturday, November 14. Services will be provided by Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. For information please call (210)658-7037 or visit www.colonialuniversal.com.
