

We lost our beloved Diane Ott Schaefer, of Universal City, on Saturday, July 16, 2016. Diane is survived by her husband of 36 years, Donald Schaefer of New Braunfels and her two furry babies Gigi and Minnie Pearl.
To her family and friends she will always be remembered as “The Avon Lady”. Since she joined Avon in 1981 she has received 30+ awards for Sales and Leadership, including many all expense paid trips to Las Vegas and Jamaica.
In addition to her career with Avon, she and her husband worked for 20+ years for the Express News as a newspaper carrier. Even with two jobs she still found the time to also work on her favorite hobby, adding to her doll collection.
Diane is preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Ott Kolb and by her parents Benhard and Elvira Ott. Ben and Elvira moved their grocery store in Universal City around 1957 before the City was incorporated. They opened Ott’s Bar-B-Que in 1971 which closed its doors early 2000’s.
Diane is survived by three (3) siblings: One sister Bernardine Robinson and her husband Johnie of San Angelo, TX; two brothers Bernie Ott and his wife Mae of Floresville, TX; and Charles Ott of Universal City; aunt Angela Jandt of Seguin, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A rosary will be held at the Colonial Funeral Home on 625 Kitty Hawk Rd in Universal City on Thursday, July 21st at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help at 16075 N Evans Rd, Selma, TX at 10:00 am on Friday, July 22nd. Procession to Selma Cemetery #1 immediately following.
