

Elreda graduated from Normandy High School in St. Louis, MO. She proudly served in the US Army from October 29, 1984, to February 17, 1995, and later worked at the post office. Her hard-working spirit was evident in all she did. Elreda was known for her compassionate and humorous nature, always bringing laughter and joy to those around her.
Elreda was passionate about cooking, had a green thumb, and enjoyed crocheting, playing dominos, cards, and gambling. She was beloved for her ability to make people laugh and was always the life of the party.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Delores Hunter; father, Weldon Hunter; brother, Antony Hunter.
Elreda is survived by her daughters, Mataya Wright (Johann) and Sharita Hunter; sister, Anna Smith (Wil); brother, Dave Hunter (Andrea); sister, Tammy Gaskin (John); six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Colonial Funeral Home, located at 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX, on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. The service will be live-streamed. A committal service with military honors will follow at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery, Committal Shelter #3, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, TX, from 2:30 pm to 2:50 pm.
The family extends their gratitude to Walnut Springs Rehabilitation Center, Guadalupe Regional Medical Center, and everyone who has supported them during this time of bereavement. Elreda D Hunter will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
