

Enrique was born in New York City, NY, on July 9, 1950 to Eugenia Vargas and Juan Perez. In June 1971, at the age of 20, Enrique enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served his country for the next two decades, retiring in September of 1991. After retirement, he attended the University of Texas at San Antonio where he would receive his Bachelors of Science in Nursing. He worked in the operating room at Northeast Baptist Hospital for several years. Enrique took a year off from nursing and would then go on to work for the United States Postal Service. He finally retired after 20 more years of service to his community and country.
A loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to so many, Enrique will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. He will forever be remembered for living life with courage. He was a Christian, a family man, and a passionate American. Among his other attributes, he was a spirited speaker, a creative thinker and, spontaneous artist.
Enrique had many passions throughout his life. His love for cooking brought his family together to enjoy his home cooked meals. He also loved spending time with his family. When his sons were young, Enrique enjoyed playing basketball with them and their friends. He always made time for a friendly neighborhood pick up game with all the kids in neighborhood, who were inspired by him and looked up to him. Also, Enrique looked forward to the weekend for a good UFC fight with his sons. When he needed to relax he enjoyed a good drive or simply spending time with those he loved.
Enrique is preceded in death by his parents, Eugenia and Juan Perez; brothers, Juan Hernandez, Daniel Perez, and Ricki Perez.
Enrique leaves behind to honor his memory, his wife of 54 years, Magdalena Collazo Perez; three sons, Henry and wife Denise Perez, David and wife Mindy Perez, Danny and wife Maureen Perez; brother, Rademas Torres; six grandchildren, Hailey Perez, Gavin Perez, Madison Perez, Daniel Perez, Cruz Perez and Khloe Perez.
Enrique’s light will continue to shine in our hearts forever. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy that will be treasured and kept alive in the hearts of all who knew him.
