

Forrest Edward Works, age 95 of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Fort Worth, Texas, and Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Saturday January 25, 2025. Forrest was born November 3, 1929 to Clifford Works and Ellen M. Wood in Albion, Illinois.
Lt Col Forrest Works served our country for 20 years in the Army, earning the Army Commendation Medal in November of 1962, and the Legion of Merit in December of 1967. After his retirement from military service, he worked in Fort Worth for General Services Administration (GSA) for 21 years and retired as a GS-14. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he served on the Administrative Board. After retirement from GSA he moved back home to Illinois where he settled in Mount Carmel. While in Mount Carmel he was a member of the local Rotary Club and served a term as its President, and was also a Master Mason. A few years after the passing of his mother, he returned permanently to Texas and settled in San Antonio.
Forrest loved God, his family, and his country. He enjoyed working on his own cars and was very handy when it came to fixing things. He was always willing to help out a friend or neighbor in need. In his retirement years he and his wife Sue enjoyed going on many cruises and loved traveling the world together. They also enjoyed spending time with their kids, grandkids and close friends.
Forrest is preceded in death by his wife Sue Works, brother, George C. Works, and grandson, Jeremey Corser. Those who will continue to cherish his memory are his daughters, Patricia Henderson, Susan Moak, Gerri Shumate, and son Josh Hart; grandchildren Kristen Donham, Lindsey Corser, Kathrine Sigford, William Shumate, and Cody Wilkerson. His legacy will also live on in his 6 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Tony Moak, Hobie Henderson, Josh Hart, Marshall Works, Cody Wilkerson, and William Shumate.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in his memory to the American Cancer Society, the Parkinson’s Foundation, or the American Parkinson Disease Association.
