Guadalupe Perez Silvas, 87, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025, surrounded by family. She was born on February 11, 1937, to Guadalupe Suarez Perez and Isidro Perez in Marion, TX. She was the 11th child of 12 brothers and sisters. She often compared her childhood life to the TV series The Little House on the Prairie, saying it was just like that back then. Times seemed much simpler when a strong belief in God, deep family values, and a strong work ethic was all you needed.
She met the love of her life, Alfredo Arispe Silvas, and on August 25, 1962, they married. From then on their life was an adventure. Traveling across the country, visiting some special places along the way. While living in a few like California, Ohio, Michigan and West Texas. Eventually settling back down where they started from in the Cibolo - Schertz area. This is where they lived out the remainder of their lives.
She loved spending time with family and friends, and cooking for them is how she showed her love. She was a master at cooking for large groups of people, and was the cook for many family gatherings, special occasions, holidays, or even just cookouts at their home.
Lupe and Alfredo would spend their free time camping, fishing, hosting domino or card game nights at home with close family members. They were always the pair to watch on the dance floor as well. The way they would glide across the floor like they were floating on air.
She didn't miss her chance to tend to her flowers or show them off to anyone or everyone that would stop by to admire them. Lupe would always take the time out of her day to pray for her family too. She found peace in praying to Our Lady of Guadalupe while reciting her rosary.
She is survived by her 5 children: Lupe (Dottie) Perez, Robert Martinez, from Schertz, TX, Maxine (Richard) Guajardo from Cibolo, TX, Alfred (Cindy) Silvas, from Abilene, TX, Chris (Belinda) Silvas from San Antonio, TX, and two brothers; Susano "Chano" Perez, of Dallas, TX and Pete Perez of Schertz, TX. Fourteen (14) Grandchildren, & Twenty-eight (28) great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, and countless other family members. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Alfredo A. Silvas, her mother and father, three (3) brothers, six (6) sisters, and one (1) grandson, Joseph A. Silvas, Jr. Pallbearers will be Lupe Perez, Robert Martinez, Pete Perez Jr, Lupe "Junior'' Perez, Robert Martinez Jr, and David Sosa.
We will miss you dearly, but our hearts find comfort in knowing that you are at peace now and reunited with the love of your life, so you can dance once again.
A special acknowledgment to her daughter Maxine and husband Richard for the love and care you gave our mom.
