Lt. Col. Guenther O. “Jerry” Horn, U.S. Air Force, Retired passed away March 9, 2018. He was born September 13, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Otto and Elizabeth (Henkel) Horn. Jerry graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1946 until 1975. His many military awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, and the Air Force Commendation Medal. Following his military retirement he served with the Alamo Area Council Boy Scouts of America, the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America and received the Good Shepherd Recognition for distinguished service by a Baptist to the Boy Scouts of America, and the South Texas Youth for Christ. Jerry was a member of First Baptist Church in Universal City, served on the Executive Board of the San Antonio Baptist Association, was a member of the Texas Baptist Men and Gideons International where he held numerous positions in both organizations. He was a Past President of the Converse Lions Club and held numerous positions on the Universal City Planning and Zoning Commission. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Richard “Ricky Horn, and his sister, Ada Horn Parker. Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years Shirley Horn; children, Jerry Horn and wife Debbie of Spanish Fort, AL, Roger Horn and wife Jean of Universal City, TX, Jeanette Rachuig and husband Carl of San Antonio, TX, Karen Lopez of Converse, TX; 15 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 13, 2018 from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church, 1401 Pat Booker Road, Universal City, TX 78148.
