

Harry Dale Parnell went to be with his Lord and Saviour on October 1st, 2016. He was born on January 31, 1919 in Carlisle, Arkansas, to Harry Winfield and Alma Smith Parnell. Dale moved with his family to a small farm near Hot Springs, Arkansas, where he completed high school then served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from January 1939 to November 1940. He joined and proudly served in the Army Air Corps from 1940 to 1945 and then remained in the Army Reserve from 1945 to 1948 when he was honorably discharged in the rank of Master Sergeant. He was the second oldest of three brothers, Floyd, Glen and William (all deceased) and three sisters, Mildred and Francine (both deceased) and Wanda who resides near Phoenix, Arizona. Dale married May Bernice Flinn (deceased January 18th, 2001) on September 10th, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri and after leaving the Army, they lived near Hot Springs until 1955, then Shrewsbury, Missouri (suburb of St. Louis), then Baldwin, Missouri. They moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas after Dale retired from Army civil service as a contracting officer. They moved to Universal City, Texas in 1992 where they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on arrival. Dale and May had one son, Danny, who resides with his wife, Dora, in Universal City, Texas. Dale has two grandsons, Darrin Parnell of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Dean Parnell of San Antonio, Texas. Dale was always very active in his church- music leader, deacon and teacher. He was a mason and an active member of the Eastern Star while living near St. Louis, Missouri. Viewing will be at the Colonial Funeral Home on Thursday, October 27th, 2016 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Universal City on Friday, October 28th, 2016 at 10:00am, followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery with military honors.
