Ildefonzo “Poncho” Rodriguez

May 14, 1932- August 15, 2018

On August 15, 2018, our beloved Poncho was called to the Lord at the age of 86 surrounded by loved ones. Born in Laredo, Poncho served in the US Army from 1951-1954, fought in the Korean War, and was awarded The Purple Heart. After serving, Poncho worked 20 years at The Laredo Times, then moved to San Antonio finishing his career at Randolph AFB, retiring in 1993.

Preceded in death by parents Mr. and Mrs. Guadalupe Rodriguez, siblings: Venola Flores (Jesse), Hector (Olivia)and Sylvia Rodriguez; survived by his devoted wife of 60 years Gloria Rodriguez, loving children: Belinda Rodriguez (Mark), Ana Kesler, Melissa South (Scott), lldefonzo Rodriguez Jr, and Cynthia Kauffman, 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grand children, and siblings: Veronica Garcia (Eddie), Rosa Maria Moncivais (Homero), Hector Jr. and Daniel Rodriguez.

Visitation: August 27th 6pm - 9pm (Rosary 7pm) Colonial Funeral Home 625 Kitty Hawk Rd Universal City, Texas

Mass/reception: August 28th 10:30am OLPH Catholic Church 16075 North Evans Rd Selma, Texas Interment: 2:00p Fort Sam Houston.
