Janie G. Velte passed away on October 30, 2012 at the age of 85. She was born on September 27, 1927 in Austin, TX. Janie was preceded in death by her parents, Porfirio and Victoria (Garza) Garcia of McAllen, TX; 1st husband, Samuel Diaz; and her 2nd husband, Robert O. Velte; survived by her children, Gloria (Arnold) Rodriguez, David Diaz, Suzy (Danny) Alvarez, Leticia (Froy) Viciniaz, Rosey (Mark) Gillis, Daniel (Kitt) Diaz, step-sons: Robert and Dennis Velte and their spouses; she is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. at the Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd. Brownsville, TX 78526. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that a donation be made in Memory of Janie Velte to the National Parkinson Foundation or Michael J. Fox Foundation.
