John W. Abell

John W. Abell (TSgt. U.S. Air Force, Retired) age 87 passed away September 10, 2020. He was born March 30, 1933 in Sumner, Illinois to Harlen Kenneth and Izola Mae (Adams) Abell. John served in the U. S. Army and retired from the Air Force after 23 years of service. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Air Force Longevity Service Award with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters. He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers. Surviving family members include his wife, Linda Abell; children, William E. Abell (Leonor), Rebecca J. Thomas (Danny), Ronald L. Abell, and Larry D. Abell; grandchildren, Samantha Abell, Johnathan Abell, Veronica Hernandez, Alex Hernandez, and Amanda Thomas Guy (John); great grandchildren, Collins and Caden Guy and Victor Hernandez; 1 brother; 2 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will be held Monday, September 28, 2020 at 10:15 A.M. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with military honors.
