

Lola was blesses as a child and baptized at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas where she faithfully attended church with her paternal grandmother, Cornie Harris, Who also precedes her in death.
Lola continued to express her faith to her Lord and Savior by worshipping and serving at the Cross of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church under the leadership of her Pastor, David Schneider, until her health no longer permitted her attendance, but remained active until the end.
She was educated in the San Antonio Independent School District and graduated High School in1968 from Highlands High School.
Shortly after her completion of high school, Lola met and married her husband of 51 years, Ronald Leroy Hayes on February 14th, 1970. From their union they parented three children, two son and one daughter. Lola would then join Ronald as he served in the United Sates Air Force, traveling from Lackland AFB, Texas; George AFB, California; Elmendorf AFD, Alaska; Tinker AFB, Oklahoma; and Yokota AFB, Japan.
Although Lola worked jobs that were sometimes part-time, she while stationed at George AFB, in Victorville, California with Ronald, She joined the Air Force and served as an Airfield Management Specialist. She served from 1978 – 1983. After retiring with her family, she worked as an administrative secretary at the Military Personnel Center at Randolph AFB (1994-1998). Then with USAA in San Antonio, Texas (1999-2004) later returning to Randolph AFB with the Workers’ Compensation and retired May 2014.
Lola was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. She developed life-long friendships during her travels. Some of her dearest friends include Duncan and Theda Smith and family.
She leave the cherish her memory, her devoted husband, Ronald Leroy Hayes; sons, Rodney Lawrence Hayes (Kimberley), Richard Lance Hayes (JaNet) both of San Antonio, TX; daughter, DaShawn Hayes of San Diego, California; Grandchildren: Raymond Hayes, Robert Hayes, and Roxanne Hayes of San Antonio, TX; Three brothers: Allen Harris (Kathryn) of San Antonio, TX, Lucious Harris III (Lucille) of Banning, California, and Louis Harris, who proceeded her in death. Two sisters: Lousie Grogan (Barrington) of Moreno Valley, California, and Karen Gail Rodgers (Josie) of Memphis, TN, Brother-in-law Ralph L. Hayes (Emma) of Moreno Valley, California. Many aunts and uncles have preceded her in death but one surviving uncle, Theodore Cunningham (Sarah) of Kingsbury, Texas. A host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation for Lola will be held Monday, January 17, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 1:45 PM to 2:00 PM at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
