She was a graduate of Milford High School, she loved reading books, making quilts, crafting, bowling, playing tennis, card games such as Canasta, Tunk and Michigan Rummy. Luella was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Converse. She will be remembered as gentle, caring, and she never complained. She loved her Lord, her church, her family and her cats.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Effie Kern, her husband, Lester E. Slocum; her son, Steven Slocum and daughter Leslie Slocum Nowlin; her 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Robert Slocum; grandson, Jimmy; granddaughter, Stephanie, great grandson, Trey and Rene.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Ariel Hospice and Cornerstone Care Facility for the compassion and care given to Luella.

A gathering of family and friends for Luella will be held Friday, September 12, 2025 from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148.
