Maria Elena Cano, 92, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on March 3, 2026. She was born on January 30, 1934, in San Benito, Texas to Roberto Perez and Josefina Ramirez Perez. Maria Elena will be remembered as a faithful, devoted woman whose life was rooted in love of family, service to others, and steadfast faith.
Maria Elena attended St. Philip’s College and was a member of St Joan of Arc Catholic Church, where her faith remained a guiding presence throughout her life.
She was a devoted wife to Arnoldo Cano for 55 years, cherishing the life they built together and the family they loved.
Maria Elena found joy in the simple, meaningful things—cooking, sewing, dancing, and, above all, time with her family. She was community oriented, offering her care and presence in ways that made a lasting difference to those around her.
She is survived by her children, Andres Cano, Nelda Fair, Arnold Cano Jr., and Gloria Hallburg.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with the Holy Rosary recited at 6:00 pm on Monday, March 23, 2026 at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at St Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 2829 Ackerman Rd, Kirby, TX 78219, followed by a Committal Service from 2:00 pm to 2:20 pm at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
