Born on May 23, 1926, in Edinburg, TX, Maria touched the hearts of many through her strength, and dedication to faith and family.
Maria had a long and highly regarded career in floral design. She further shared this talent creating artful pieces for and with family, even up to her last days.
Maria found great joy in her 50+ year involvement with Trinity Our Savior Lutheran Church. She was a long-term choir member and bell ringer. Many hours were spent decorating the church for services and events. Volunteer activities with church friends included prayer chain calls and making quilts for the needy.
For Maria, love of travel took her all over the world. Family vacations made for cherished memories. Religious and volunteer travel further developed her faith.
Maria had a special passion for games. She loved all sports, especially her beloved Spurs. She was well known for savoring a meal, especially if it ended with ice cream.
Maria was fierce in her love of family, and they returned that love in her later years.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents Pablo Garcia and Guadalupe Riviera, 3 sisters Hortencia Uribe, Bertha Garcia, Dorotea Garcia, and a daughter-in-law Mary Munoz.
Maria is survived by her 5 children Elma Garcia (Ovidio), Rick Munoz (Erma), Susan Cude (Bubba), Gloria Cox, and Paul Cantu; 6 grandchildren Robert Arsuaga, Jr. (Dominique), John Arsuaga (Tracy), Lisa Jurecek (Steve), Terri Webb (Randy), Lisa Cox, and Andrea Cox; 11 great grandchildren and 14 great, great grandchildren.
