

A memorial service for Mary Gwyndolyn Ray, 94, a resident of San Antonio, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Central Christian Church, 720 N Main, San Antonio, TX 78205. A reception will follow in the Makin Fellowship Hall.
Mrs. Ray passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017 while in hospice care at the Agape Hospice House. Mary Gwyndolyn Reid was born July 25, 1923 in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Mary and Ernest Reid. She was united in marriage to Woodrow W. Ray, Sr. on July 14, 1945. He preceded her in death October 9, 1995. They were married for 50 blissful years.
Gwyn worked for North East ISD @ Nimitz Middle School where she was an attendance secretary until she retired. She made many lifelong friends and had a positive influence on many children’s lives.
Mrs. Ray was a member of the Central Christian Church for over 64 years. She served as Deacon and in 2010 was elected Deacon Emeritus. She was very involved in Christian Women’s Fellowship, Christian Women’s Sewing Group, Stephen’s Ministry, Pacesetters Organizer, and volunteered as a worship leader in the Keystone Class. You could see her smiling face serving tea in the parlor after worship service for many years. Many children knew her as “Grandma” which brought great joy to her heart. She was also an active member of the Kappa Kappa Iota, Alpha Lambda Chapter in San Antonio.
She is survived by her children and spouses; Woodrow W. Ray, Jr (Karen), Leesburg, TX, Richard Ray (Cindy), San Antonio, TX; 8 loving grandchildren; Jennifer King (Bryan), Courtney Robinson (Scott), Jason Ray (Renee), Justin Ray, Kelsey Ray, Lauren Wert, Megan Mims (John) and Kristen Klein; and 2 great-grandchildren; Matthew King and Katelynn Ray.
