Miendrado “Dimmy” Gabriel, affectionately known as “Mien” to his family, friends, and co-workers, passed away on March 28, 2026, at the age of 76 in San Antonio, Texas.
He was born on January 21, 1950, in Camiling, Tarlac, Philippines. Mien lived a life rooted in dedication, compassion, and service to others.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Melba Gabriel; his children, Haydee and Jimmuel; his son- and daughter-in-law, John and Jen; and his cherished grandchildren, Andi, Abram, Jasmine, and Alyna. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
From 1983 to 2015, Mien served as an Agricultural Technologist Officer in Moncada, Tarlac, where he was greatly admired and respected by the farmers he supported. His lifelong passion was helping others cultivate fruitful crops, and he took pride in educating farmers on modern and scientific farming methods. His kindness, knowledge, and dedication left a lasting impact on his community.
In 2015, Mien moved to the United States, where he works as a Walmart Associate. He quickly became known among his co-workers for his charisma, warm personality, and positive attitude, earning the affection of many.
Mien found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved singing karaoke, especially his favorite songs “Love Story” and Speak Softly Love” by Andy Williams. He enjoyed keeping up with Philippine politics and treasured every moment spent with his family. His lifelong dream was to live in a humble bahay kubo, surrounded by nature, fruit-bearing trees, and native animals – a reflection of his deep connection to the land and simple living.
A visitation will be held on April 7, 2026 from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home in Universal City, Texas. A Rosary and Mass will take place on April 8, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at St John Neumann Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas.
Mien will be brought home to the Philippines, arriving on April 23, 2026. A wake will be held on April 23, 24, and 25, 2026 at the Memorial Chapel in Camiling, Tarlac. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on April 26, 2026 followed by a burial at Camiling Memorial Cemetery.
Mien’s life was a testament to hard work, humility, and love. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
