Olivia was born on July 14, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas to her parents Juan Leal Flores and Emiteria Vada Flores.
After completing high school and a year of college, Olivia worked for Millsap Enterprises and a plating shop.
Olivia was a very loyal servant of the Lord. She was involved with many organizations, including St. Monica Catholic Church, the Third Order Franciscans of St. Francis, the Guadalupana, and was a prayer group leader. She was also a part of rich Texas history as she was associated with the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
An honest, faithful and happy spouse, it was said that Olivia and Tomas first met while he was hoeing sugar beets in a field in Minnesota. Instantly, it was love at first sight! The pair would then wed and go on to have three children together. Although Olivia could be described as a very stern, strong-minded and cautious mother, she loved all her family dearly and was always a hard worker.
In her pass-time, Olivia loved scrapbooking. She would hold on to photos, ticket stubs and even newspaper clippings to capture specific moments. Moreover, Olivia enjoyed collecting. She would save old goods with the intention of opening an antique shop. Olivia was also fond of mail-order television shopping and picking up interesting rocks she found.
Olivia was preceded in death by her parents Juan and Emiteria; her brothers, Louis, Joe, Valentine and her son, Tomas F. Rodriguez III.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 56 years, Tomas Rodriguez; their children, Jason and Arlene (husband Jose Lopez); sisters, Janie and Christina; brothers, Juan, Ray, Orlando, and Tony; daughter-in-law, Patricia Schroeder; grandchildren, Jody, Joseph, Jacob, Jason, Veronica, Patricia, Amanda and Theresa; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph, Jacob, Rolland, Leon, Cody and Brandon.
The family would like to thank the many relatives and friends for their countless prayers and support.
Olivia’s kind light will continue to shine in our hearts forever. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
