Paulita Palacio Galvan Day, age 94, of Converse, Texas, departed this life to spend eternity with God on February 4, 2026. She was born to Guadalupe Palacio and Juanita Galvan on May 6, 1931, in Stockdale, Texas.
Born into an environment of migrant workers, her education was often interrupted, but she managed to complete schooling at the junior high level. In her early twenties after months of study and Texas state Examination she was awarded a license to practice cosmetology, and endeavor which she followed for thirty years. As a youngster she often wondered what was beyond the horizon, which she viewed from atop a farm water tower. After marriage she was off on a 62-year journey that included visits to all fifty U.S. states, several European countries, most Canadian provinces, several Mexican states, and many Caribbean countries. Three sons and a daughter became part of the family along the way.
Unfortunately, daughter Yvette was born prematurely. She quickly became the family's guardian angel. Pauline especially enjoyed the boys' early growth years: their discovery of their own "stinky" feet, their first steps, their first "everything". Nathan, an aircraft technician, developed a very close kidding relationship with her; Miles, MD, remembers "taney-taney" dance time with her; Glen, DDS, recalls her unwavering support and understanding. Her close association with the Catholic Church often included childcare activity while Mass was being celebrated.
Pauline's most favored activity was dancing, whether it be Mexican polka, fifties and sixties rock and roll, western two-step, or line dancing. She enjoyed exercising at the gym or on a walk with friends. She was ready to talk to almost anyone, familiar acquaintances or not. helping others in difficult situations was second nature, especially lending an empathetic ear to their problems.
She was preceded in death by father Guadalupe Palacio, mother Juanita Galvan, daughter Yvette, and stepmother Juanita Palacio.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Jerry; son Nathan (wife Catherine), son Miles (wife Audra, children Eric and Micah), and the Dallas Days Glen and Paul; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
