

Ramon Lee Taylor (aka: Pete McDonald) born December 6, 1927 in Jonesboro, TX died peacefully on June 6, 2011 at the age of 83. He proudly served in the USAF during World War II and was assigned to the 509th Air Refueling Squadron (AREFS) where he was the radio operator aboard a B-29 refueling tanker. He also worked for Merchants Fast Motor Lines as a truck driver and retired after 33 years with safe driving honors. After retiring, he volunteered at the East Central Development Center for 16 years where he was known as “Grandpa Taylor” and was awarded an honorary lifetime membership to the PTA.
He was preceded in death by his son, Elton Taylor. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Taylor; son, Ernest Taylor (Billie); daughters, Laura Berger (Charlie), Lynda Jaskinia (James) and Lisa Taylor; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Todd; brothers, Jake Witzel and Bob Witzel. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2011 at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Rd., Universal City, TX followed by a 7:00 p.m. memorial service that same evening. Interment will be the next evening, June 11, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. at the Murphree Cemetery in Evant, TX. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
