Raymond W. Smith Jr, 65 passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at home in Schertz, TX after a courageous battle with Cancer. He was born on November 13, 1954 in Philadelphia, PA. Ray was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Madeline (Carbrey) Smith Sr. and his younger brother Francis Smith.
Ray enlisted in the U.S. Navy right out of high school in 1972 and served a tour of duty in Vietnam. Following his time in the Navy he worked Civil Service for the Department of Defense for 40 years. He married the love of his life Cheryl (Clark) Smith on September 6, 1980 in Philadelphia, PA. In the summer of 1995 Ray, his wife, and their 3 children relocated to Schertz, TX. There he also worked as a Master Electrician at The Home Depot for 25 years. Ray was a brilliant man who was known for fixing everything. He had an eye for detail and perfection, Ray also had a heart for helping others with his talents and never turned down the chance to help. He was a die hard Philadelphia Eagles and Nascar fan with a great sense of humor. Ray was a devoted husband and father who loved spending time with family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Cheryl (Clark) Smith; 4 children, Jennifer Arasin, Mark Smith, Meghen (Matthew) Castillo, and Joey (Sara) Smith; Ray is also survived by his 3 Grandchildren, Carter Kristof, Kendall Kristof, and Kalie Castillo; 3 siblings, Mary Ellen (John) Trimback, Madeline Smith, Walter Smith and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Colonial Funeral Home with a Funeral Service at 6:00pm followed by a Celebration of Life Reception. Ray will have a memorial service with full Military Honors on a later date.
