As a young boy growing up with a older brother and sister he learned early on he had to fight harder to achieve. As he enjoyed being the baby of the family along came our baby sister, Dianna and of course, he did not take this well and was constantly picking on his sister. Understandably, he did not take this well and was constantly picking on our little sister.Roger was a very clean cut kind of guy. Everything had to be in the right place. We all remember how he was about hats. When he was young, he would play with all of our dad's helmets, winter and summer hats. Up to today he still has a hat collection. Our time in the military with our dad took us overseas. We were stationed to Erlangen Germany for four years. Here Roger traveled extensively, visiting many cities in Germany and Italy. He walked up the stairs of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, toured Florence, Venice and finally Rome. Our dad was serving in the army during Roger's Junior high years. We were stationed in Ford Ord, California. Roger was very eager to attend Los Arboles Junior High in Marina, California. Our parents went through the interview process at the school and Roger was accepted. Anyone that knew Roger can describe all the adventures, mischief and true friends that he made there.Roger moved to San Antonio, Texas with the family when dad retired from the Army. He attended Judson High School and graduated in 1983. Roger also excelled in sports, playing basketball, baseball, and football. He was very skilled and competitive. He admired the San Antonio Spurs and was a lifelong fan. He was proud to represent and support his Spurs with all of his heart. Roger was married to Tina Sambrano and had their son named Paul Anthony. Later, Roger was again blessed with another child named Alexandria Lynn, who was adopted by Cynthia and George Barrera. Our family was very fortunate to be in close contact with Alex during her growing years.Roger was attending San Antonio College for the past year and a half where he was obtaining his degree in Business. Most of his time was spent studying, being involved in family events. We think some of his happiest and proudest moments were playing with his granddaughter Mia, who just turned 4.Roger overcame many challenges and obstacles during his adult life. Roger was diagnosed with leukemia three years ago and constantly struggled with this disease. Unfortunately for all of us Roger was taken away from us far too soon on May 24, 2011.
