It’s hard onto believe it’s been a year already since you left us. You are truly missed. We all miss and love your smile and jokes so very much. 

I love you grandma, forever and ever, amen. I miss you, you were my partner in crime and we went everywhere together and did crazy fun things. I wish I could have just one more day or one more phone call with you. You will forever be the most important person in my life. You shaped me into who I am today. I will make you proud. Thank you for loving me unconditionally even through my flaws. ❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰

I enjoyed seeing her the few times we were all at family events. She was always smiling and friendly. She will be missed.

Dear family, friends, and loved ones of Mrs. Velia Valdez Watts: My family and I offer our love, prayers, and condolences during this difficult time.   Mrs. Watts was always so loving and kind to me during the years her son, Robert and I grew up together as great friends.  She was always patient with us when we played the drums together (with our Rock music playing way too loud), or when we played basketball in her driveway until all hours of the evening (not to mention when we rummaged though her fridge and ate way too much of her food)!  
I know this is a terrible loss for so many of you, but I hope while grieving, you have the strength to celebrate a wonderful life filled with love, laughter, and kindness.  May God bless you all and may we all be fortunate enough to join Velia and the other Angels in Heaven one day.

She was the best grandma to everyone and im so glad she saw me as one of her own. I remember her coming over to our house a bunch when we were little. She always had the best jokes and made me feel so happy. I loved when she would sit there and teach us how to make tortillas and we'd laugh and laugh. I miss her dearly and wish she could be here to tell my son the same jokes. We love you. Please watch over us until we meet again.

You were like a mom to me when I didn’t have one. I love you very much. I miss you more than you know. You were and will always be a huge part of my life and all of my children’s lives. Thank you for everything you have done for all of us. We are better people for knowing you and having you in our life. Your smile and laughter could light up a room and your jokes oh how I miss those jokes. I love you. Thank you for loving us. 

I didn't see Velia often. Usually it was at family celebrations. She was always such a delight, such a happy, loving person. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren and always up for fun. I will miss her and our celebrations just won't be the same without her. I treasure my memories of her.

Aunt Villy,
     You were such a great person! I always knew you loved us because you always gave us hugs and told us.  I don’t think you have ever missed sending me a card or calling me to wish me happy birthday! I don’t ever remember seeing you without a smile!  You always had a new joke for us! I remember you showing me how to make enchiladas and guacamole. There are so many good memories!  I know you are in Heaven talking to all your family and friends that have gone before!  I love you and I miss you!!!

Mrs. Velia,

 I am humbled by your strength and the fight you put up taking on this virus, yet God had other plans for you to become an angel in heaven. I am sad that I was not able to meet you prior to your time in the hospital because your family spoke so highly of you and the love that they shared with you made you out to be an incredible woman.  Even at the time you were able to speak to me, you somehow found a reason to smile through the struggle. I wish I could have tasted that famous sweet tea and enchiladas your family speaks of, but I know you will be blessing your family in special ways while up in heaven. It was  truly an HONOR taking care of such a fine women in your last moments here on earth. RIP sweet Velia.

You always accepted me as family. I know we didn’t know each other well but you are my family and I will forever have you in my heart ❤️ I just know you are in  heaven with my grandfather love you always 

Velia was always so kind, sweet, and welcoming every time I saw her. Heaven truly gained an amazing angel. 

Gone too soon! 
I met Velia and her granddaughter Heather at The UPS Store, where I work,  over 10 years ago. They would drop by just to say hi and catchup.  She would bring me coupons to Burger King and Subway.   Velia was always so thoughtful and ended our visits with a silly funny joke.  Always full of joy and laughter.
 One fond memory of Velia, being kind and generous, is when she brought me a tray of beef enchiladas. She told me she had been thinking of me and wanted to share some enchiladas with me and my family. She did not know the impact this had on me! I had been stressed all day over things I needed to do after work before going to my small group church meeting. I needed to figure out dinner for my two kids.  Feeling rushed for time. 
Well Velia was a God send with the Enchiladas!  God knew my concerns and sent Velia! She is a true Angel! I am gonna miss our talks and visits! Love you Velia! Watch over Heather and your family. Fly high!❤️

Velia was a kind and generous lady. Always looking out for us as her neighbors and friends. She will be missed.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service

She was also preceded in death by her father Humberto Valdez Sr and mother Hermelinda Flores, her brothers Joe Sanchez, Richardo Valdez, Genaro "Arturo" Sanchez, and sister Maria Delfina Flores. She was also preceded in death by her beloved animals Frances earlier in the month and General back in January.


She is survived by her two sisters Maria Luisa Flores and Margarita Novak and brother Humberto Valdez Jr, two sons, Robert Watts and Charlie Watts, six grandchildren Heather, Laura, Rachel, Emily, Megan, and William and three great grandchildren Embry, Ellie, and Hayden.
