

Wayne F. Seldon was born on February 8, 1945, in Philadelphia, PA. He departed this earthly life January 25, 2026, at Audie Murphy Veterans Hospital in San Antonio, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Velsor, and his stepfather, William Cartwright; brother, Chauncey Seldon, and his 15-year-old daughter Velsor Marie Seldon. Wayne professed his faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and consistently showed his love for the Lord by church membership and obedience to God’s Word. He was a loyal and faithful member of Country Baptist Church, Lytle, TX where he was ordained and served as a Deacon, taught Children’s Church and Vacation Bible School. He joined Agape Christian Church, San Antonio, TX in 2017 and attended regularly until his health began to fail.
Wayne was a quiet, humble, soft-spoken man whose life reflected loyalty, dedication, pride and discipline. He served in the United States Army and received numerous awards and decorations. After retirement from Gillman Honda Automotives, he continued his service as a member of the Ft Sam Houston Memorial Services Detachment Wednesday Burial Detail to bury veterans. He also taught weekly Bible classes at the Bexar County Jail, where he was highly respected.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Catherine (Cathy) Seldon, who cared for him until his passing; Two Daughters, Pauretta (Richard) Seldon-Banks, Newport News, VA; Sandra (David) Suggs, Colorado Springs, CO; Grandchildren, Reggie Banks, Newport News, VA; Tre’ Powell and Malik Banks of San Antonio, TX; Richelle (Josh) Pollard, Hanover, MD; Chase, Norah, and Laila Suggs, Colorado Springs, CO; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers Ellsworth (Valaida) Cartwright, Newport News, VA and Thomas Cartwright, Chesapeake, VA; Two nieces Taneshia (Omaria) Humes, Chesapeake, Virginia; and Adrienne Bethea of Norfolk, VA and 20 great-nieces and nephews.
Wayne will be remembered for loving his family, his faith in God, and the legacy he leaves with all who knew him.
Visitation will be held at Agape Christian Church, located at 14303 Judson Rd, San Antonio, TX 78233, on February 11, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Funeral Service will follow from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.
Immediately following, a Committal Service will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209, from 1:45 pm to 2:05 pm.
