William Douglas (Doug) Bedingfield, of Universal City, Texas took his final breath on Earth and his first breath with our Lord, on January 17, 2025, at the age of 72. Doug was born August 11, 1952, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was the 4th and youngest child born to W.D. (Dub) Bedingfield & Geraldine (Jerry) Ingle Bedingfield.
Doug spent his childhood and teen years in Corpus Christi, where he excelled in baseball, gaining the attention of college and pro scouts, as well as earning many accolades and superlatives. His last years of high school were in Uvalde and San Marcos Academy after his parents retired to their home in Reagan Wells. Upon graduation, he proudly served our nation in the United States Army. After his service, he joined the workforce working alongside his father at the family’s pest control company, Bedingfield Systems. After a few years, he joined the Texas oil boom and moved to Pleasanton, then Caldwell, and Pampa working with Halliburton. He then moved to Christine, where he worked for Acosta Mining/ Morrison-Knudsen and raised his family. After his children were grown, he moved to Universal City where he worked for the trucking industry. He started at Southern Tank Transport, but later moved and spent over 2 decades with Schwerman Trucking until his illness led to his retirement. When he moved to Universal City, he found a second chance at love and met and married his love, Kathleen Diane Ledwig. With this union, he gained an even bigger family. Doug loved going to the coast with his wife, watching his children grow and start their lives, and cheering on his grandchildren at their events and sports. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching games live and on TV. Doug dedicated his life to working hard to provide for his family. His presence will be sorely missed.
