Born in 1932 in Charles City, Iowa, during the height of the Great Depression, Yvonne learned the values of hard work and resilience from an early age. At just 12 years old, she began working—cleaning medical offices and helping at photo drop-off booths—showing even then her determination and strength.
Her life took a beautiful turn the day she met the love of her life, Paul Brinkman, at a roller skating rink. They married in 1952 and soon set out on a new journey as Paul joined the United States Air Force, leaving Iowa to build a life together. Wherever they went, Yvonne created a warm, loving home filled with laughter, faith, and care.
As a devoted homemaker while raising her children, Yvonne poured herself into her family. Later, she entered the retail workforce, where her intelligence, work ethic, and ability to connect with people carried her quickly into management.
Above all, Yvonne’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her children, Julie Garceau, Marcia Brinkman, Paul Brinkman, Jr., wife Tammy, David Brinkman, wife Christi; her grandchildren, Cynthia and Brett Garceau, John Valentine, Tim and Chris Kneip, Ashley and Matthew Brinkman, Megan (Brinkman) Johnston, and Brandi Brinkman; and eight great-grandchildren who will forever treasure her love and guidance. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Brinkman, and her daughter, Linda Brinkman.
To those who knew her, Yvonne will be remembered for her deep faith, her boundless generosity, and her radiant kindness. She believed in the power of a smile, the strength of prayer, and the importance of making the world a better place through simple, everyday acts of love.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Yvonne’s memory by paying forward her spirit of kindness—smile at a stranger, lend a helping hand, cherish your loved ones, and seek peace in your heart. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched, and in the love she leaves behind.
