Aristeo Bolompo Gilera, affectionately known as "Resty," age 81, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 12, 2025. Born on May 10, 1944, in Mindoro, Philippines, to Cirilo and Constancia Gilera, Aristeo led a life full of love, loyalty, and compassion. A proud graduate of Kolehiyo Ng Golden Gate College in Batangas, Resty dedicated over 21 years of distinguished service as a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus and served as the 2000 President of the Batangas Association of Tidewater, demonstrating his strong leadership and commitment to community. Resty was a man of many passions - playing Spanish guitar, fishing and crabbing with friends and family, and enjoying lively games of mahjong with his long-time compadres. Always a comedian, making people laugh was one of his greatest talents. He was a devoted family man, always present at his grandchildren’s activities, cheering them on with pride, and preparing delicious Sunday dinners for his loved ones. Known for his protective and caring nature, Resty was deeply selfless and put others before himself.
He shared a remarkable 60 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Zenaida Gilera, a testament to his devotion and love. He leaves behind a loving family that cherished him deeply: his wife, Zenaida; his children, Aileen (and her spouse, David Burgman), Gemma Gilera, Glen (and his wife, Jessica Gilera), and Maria (and her husband, Mel Sabale); and seven grandchildren - Bradley, Carisa, Olivia, Matthew, Michaela, Broderick, and Isabel - who will carry on his memory. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and joy will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
