Arthur Cajucom Santiago, beloved family man, passed away peacefully at home, on April 14, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the age of 85. Born on May 13, 1939, in the Philippines, Arthur embarked on a remarkable journey through life, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Arthur graduated with a Doctorate of Medicine from Manila Central University, Philippines, before traveling to the United States in 1964 at the age of 25. He spent his career working as an anesthesiologist with Bayside Anesthesia, where he was admired for his dedication and compassionate care.
Arthur had a zest for life that was evident in his diverse interests and hobbies. He enjoyed watching old westerns, action movies and street food shows from various cultures. Arthur loved taking cruises with his family and his beloved wife, Elsa. They lived as “snowbirds”, living in Florida and traveling back to Virginia for part of the year. They journeyed to Las Vegas and Canada annually, a trip he so looked forward to.
Despite his busy career, Arthur cherished spending time with his family and close friends. He particularly found joy golfing with his buddies and playing card games, mainly poker and Pokeno with family and friends. He had an enduring affection for the music of Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra and was often caught singing his favorite song “My Way” out loud.
Arthur was a faithful member of the Church of the Ascension Catholic Church, where he found comfort and community. Arthur cherished and loved his family, who will remember him for his sense of humor, infectious laughter, and unwavering support.
Arthur is preceded in death by his father, Pedro Santiago, mother, Justina Cajucom Santiago, wife, Gloria Agustin Santiago, daughter, Madelyne Santiago-Struse, and sister, Leticia Santiago.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 22 years, Elsa Canton Santiago; his daughters, Cecile Agustin Santiago-Carlos (Don) and Rhoda Agustin Santiago; son-in-law, Jim Struse (Shannon); sisters, Daisy Alfuente (Leonardo) and Arlene Santiago; and cherished grandchildren, Jonathan Struse, Gloria Lyne Carlos, Austin Carlos, and Ava Carlos. He is also survived by his nephew, Christopher Alfuente (Liz), grandnephew, Kai Alfuente, and grandniece, Adelyne Alfuente.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 4-8:00 p.m. at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home. A funeral service to celebrate Arthur's life will take place on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with entombment to follow in the Chapel of Serenity Mausoleum at Rosewood Memorial Park.
Arthur Cajucom Santiago will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace, knowing he made a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to have crossed his path.
