Arthur Preston “A.P.” York, 79, passed away on Tuesday in Norfolk. He was born in Vinalhaven, ME to the late Donald and Sada York. He is also predeceased by his wife, Melba Lee York. A.P. retired from the US Navy after 23 years and later worked as a Police Officer for Naval Station Norfolk for 27 years. He was a devoted member of True Vine Baptist Church, American Legion and the American Battleship Association. He is survived by his brothers, Stephen, Ladd and Edward York; sisters, Lida Romer, Mellina Leach and Ester Baldwin; sister-in-law, Nancy Crews and her husband, Bill Haley and special friend, his pastor, David Gibson.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2pm, Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home with burial to immediately follow at the Chapel of Serenity in the mausoleum. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.kellumfuneralhome.com.
